John’s current studio practice explores the powerful magic of portraiture. By capturing someone’s likeness and the sitter’s personality he hopes to give us a glimpse of the quotidian. His portraits catch a moment in time and invites the viewer to share his personal expression of private moments we may take for granted, yet create our memories and add value in our busy lives.

DECAMERON SERIES: (2020-23)
John’s "Decameron series," is one artist’s attempt to bear witness, bring some comfort and give meaning to our shared feelings of disorientation, fear and loneliness during the covid global pandemic. His artwork asks us to consider images of beauty and hope as an antidote to our current anxiety from a prolonged pandemic isolation. These works reference covid, literature, technology, and art history in order to express and infuse some optimism into our personal pandemic narratives.
